Eliminate Pimples and Resulting Scars

Acne Denver

Acne DenverAcne, a condition often marked by pimples, redness, and irritation on the face and back, occurs during adolescence and can remain into adulthood. Depending upon the extent of a person's acne, it can leave behind scarring long after the acne itself has subsided. Acne can easily cause feelings of self-consciousness and dissatisfaction with one's appearance. Dr. Alexis Parker provides acne treatments at her Denver office to help patients of all ages to overcome this skin condition and the scars it can leave behind. To learn more, please contact us and schedule a consultation.

What Is Acne?

Acne occurs when the pores produce too many cells, causing the pore to become blocked. Meanwhile, sebum (oil) produced within the pore cannot escape, facilitating the growth of bacteria. The result is a pimple, which in addition to being unsightly, can be accompanied by itchiness, redness, and minor pain.

Acne Treatments

We offer a number of acne treatments at Lasair to treat your specific needs. During your initial consultation with Dr. Parker at her Denver office, she can help determine which of our acne treatments is best suited for your needs.

Microdermabrasion : This treatment involves the controlled abrasion, or wearing away, of the skin's upper layers. By spraying fine crystals against the skin, microdermabrasion helps to open closed pores and stimulate the production of collagen, which gives your skin renewed elasticity. Microdermabrasion is painless and involves no down time. This treatment can be combined with a facial chemical peel to stimulate exfoliation, or the removal of old, dead skin cells.

Facial Chemical Peel : A facial chemical peel begins with the thorough cleansing of the face. A special chemical solution is applied to the skin and left for a short time. The strength of the solution and the duration of treatment depend on the extent of your needs. Strong treatments may cause short-term peeling skin and redness, but will ultimately result in clearer, rejuvenated skin.

Skin Products : We offer Alexis MD acne cleanser, a uniquely formulated product that will help keep your pores clear, stimulate gentle exfoliation, and nourish the skin with antioxidants. This is often recommended as a take-home follow-up treatment for microdermabrasion and chemical peels.

Treating Acne Scars

Active acne is always challenging; unfortunately, it can result in permanent scarring that can have a long-lasting negative impact on a person's self-image. Dr. Parker uses advanced techniques that can remove or significantly reduce acne scarring:

Fraxel® : This laser treatment uses an array of tiny laser beams to treat thousands of microscopic skin areas, stimulating the body's natural healing process to replace old, damaged skin. You can notice improvements immediately after treatments, but because it relies on the healing proves to rejuvenate the skin, you will notice additional improvements in the following weeks and months.

CoolTouch® III : This advanced treatment is effective in both curbing acne and treating scars. CoolTouch® III uses laser energy to shrink the oil glands within your pores, diminishing oil production and causing acne to subside. However, your skin will still produce a healthy amount of oil. Meanwhile, the laser energy stimulates collagen production, replenishing your skin's volume and elasticity, which can reduce acne scars.

Silika 1000: Consisting mainly of the essential mineral silica, this herbal supplement increases and promotes the skin's natural restorative powers, helping your skin to recover from the lingering effects of acne.
